Vanuatu car rentals include both international and local agencies from which you can choose your vehicle. Just like anywhere else, if you plan to take out a rental, or hire a car, then you will need to keep a valid license on you at all time. Your passport, on the other hand, should probably stay at the hotel in a safe location.
You will find several Vanuatu car rental companies in Port Vila, that offer a good choice of rental cars and prices to suit many tastes, including 4WDs or SUVs - the all terrain vehicles. These can be particularly handy if you plan exploring wider Efate area on your own schedule.
On Efate Island, Avis, Budget Rent A Car, Discount Rentals, Laho Rent a Car, and World Car Rentals are all available. Scooters are also available for rental through the Nautilus Dive Center. In Luganville, the Santo 4WD Rental agency can also help you if you are not a guest of Hotel Santo, which only rents to those who have a bungalow or a room with them.

For personal transportation, a mini-bus or a taxi can take you anywhere that you need to go.
