Fishing and Cruises in Vanuatu

A Practical Guide to Vanuatu Fishing and Cruises

In Vanuatu, the water is an integral part of life. Fishing is more than mere sport for the majority of islanders, it is a means of putting food on the table. Thankfully, the pristine waters around this archipelago are rich in a wide diversity of fish and sea life. In addition, you'll find that cruises offer you a great way to get to know the area, by exploring the waters, lagoons, inlets and caves. Vanuatu fishing and cruises are also big tourist draws to the area and the locals are more than happy to supply their expertise for both endeavors.

Vanuatu Fishing

You'll find a wide variety of fishing boats available for charter. Blue marlin is the fish for which the area is famed; however, you'll find many other species, as well. Black marlin can be caught year round, as can striped marlin, mahi mahi, yellow fin tuna and wahoo. You'll find that you can charter half-day, single-day, multi-day and even overnight trips with many of the local companies and Vanuatu fishing charter operators. Several operations are owned by expatriates from Australia, New Zealand and even the US. Local fishing guides are available, as well.

Vanuatu Cruises

Cruising the pristine waters around these incredible islands is an excellent way to enjoy your tropical getaway. You will find that there are hundreds of charter yachts, sailboats and more available for your enjoyment. Most Vanuatu cruise charters also offer exploration during your trip. Single-day trips will usually feature a limited selection of cruising, diving and exploring. However, you can charter overnight trips and multi-day trips aboard ships equipped with sleeping facilities. These will allow you to explore lagoons and hidden coves. You'll also find tidal caves ripe for exploring, many rich with cave paintings from early islanders.

Island picnics

You'll find you can picnic on some of the deserted islands in the area, explore verdant jungles and snorkel some of the world's most beautiful reefs. Cruising and exploring will also help you get away from the hustle and bustle off cities like Port Vila.

Regardless of whether you choose to enjoy some sport fishing or go in search of areas to explore, you'll find that the area's beauty makes a lasting imprint on you. This can truly be a life changing vacation, allowing you to experience the true beauty and tranquility of these exotic islands. Vanuatu should be your choice for vacation enjoyment and a broad range of activities.
