Surfing in Vanuatu
While in Vanuatu, You Can Also Learn to Surf
Surfing is a fun activity and it can be tried by people of almost any
age. Out on the water, you will find surfers ranging from children to seniors enjoying what waves they are able to
catch. You may hear a number of people claim that there is no surfing in Vanuatu, but that is not true.
While Vanuatu is not particularly known as a surfing destination, those in the know have found that
Vanuatu and South Pacific in general, offer some good surfing spots. Overall though waves are more gentle in
Vanuatu, unless you go further out to find good surfing waves.
Learn to surf in Vanuatu

Good surfing spots are available in Vanuatu, but require help from the locals to
find.
|
In fact, in all of the South Pacific, Vanuatu has some of the most powerful
and hollow surf, especially if you are able to take a boat further out into the water. While the waves may not be
as wild the closer they get to the resorts, the small waves provide a perfect opportunity to learn to surf while
you vacation in Vanuatu.
Surfing spots
For those looking for a little more of a surfing challenge
while on Vanuatu holiday, there are a few less-than-accessible surfing spots, but it will take a little asking
to find out where they are and get a ride to take you out there. You also need to be prepared to be patient when it
comes to waiting out a wave. Enough surfing happens in Vanuatu that you can easily find out the latest information
in swell size, wind direction and surf reports while on vacation.
Surfing beginners
The rest of the surfers, like those who have never tried and those
who have just recently begun to surf, will enjoy the gentle waves in Vanuatu. The waves provide you with enough of
a wave to get you in toward the land, but they will not take advantage of you. Additionally, there are several
instructors, and locals, who will gladly help you begin to surf, starting with learning the positions and what to
do while out in the water.

Vanuatu is a good destination for the beginner surfers, to
learn surfing in gentle waves.

Kite surfing in
Vanuatu
If you really enjoy surfing or would like to try something new, kite
surfing is also available at many resorts and beach locations. If gear is not readily provided or if you are unsure
about whether or not gear will be made available, it is best to be prepared to bring your own if you have
it.
Although one of the most popular islands because it is the location
of the capital, Port Vila, Efate is not the only
island where you can catch a wave in Vanuatu. Many of the islands, ranging from the four larger ones to several of
the smaller ones, are able to provide surfers a place to go. Online
bookings offer several accommodations located on the beaches of Vanuatu,
putting you close to all of the surfing action.
