Tamanu on the Beach

Seven years ago Yianni and Diane Demetre travelled to Vanuatu for their first wedding anniversary where friends booked them into Vanuatu's most unique beachfront boutique resort; Tamanu on the Beach. This was the beginning of their love affair with Vanuatu and with Tamanu on the Beach. Over the next seven years, they invested and developed a number of properties in Vanuatu until in 2010, Tamanu on the Beach unexpectedly came onto the market. The resort had fallen into disrepair and proved an opportunity they couldn't resist.

Yianni and Diane purchased their little slice of heaven on earth. The new owners have always believed there is such a 'wow' factor to Tamanu that is not easily replicated elsewhere. The panoramic vista of the South Pacific ocean breaking onto the resort's huge expanse of white, pristine, private beach can not be experienced anywhere else in Vanuatu. The authenticity of the resort was and still is one of its leading features….. no retaining walls holding back nature, no level and perfectly manicured lawns, no perfectly symmetrical gardens. The entire resort is as nature intends. This is part of the resort's magic….. authentic, raw, unaffected, natural beauty with a rare location and serenity.

Evergreen Tours new owner of Vanuatu Specialist Holidays

After five years of operation, Vanuatu Specialist Holidays showed a great need for growth in regards to bigger office space, more staff, and more transfer buses due to high booking demands and enquiries. Six months ago, Roger Welling of Vanuatu Specialist Tours, approached Evergreen Tours’ owner Mr Philip Malas, and asked if he would be interested in buying ownership of Vanuatu Specialist Holidays.

Yesterday the two gentlemen accomplished their goal at the signing ceremony at the Moorings that sealed the agreement for Philip Malas to become Vanuatu Specialist Holidays' new owner. Philip Malas acknowledged the ANZ bank for their support and says, “ The smooth transition has been made possible largely by ANZ’s financial support towards the 25 million vatu”.

Specialist Holidays & House of Travels sends 3500 to 4000 tourists every year and the number is expected to grow even more so with Evergreen’s top ten products which will pre-sell for the next 5 years. Vanuatu Specialist Tours, which will now be renamed and rebranded under Evergreen, promises to continue delivering high standard service to its customers.

Mr Philip Malas comments, “For 11 years, Evergreen Tours has built good business relationships with a number of overseas wholesalers, and now that we own Vanuatu Specialist Tours, we look forward to working closely with Specialist Holidays & House of Travel which is a big supplier company.” Mr Malas continues, “The Ni-Vanuatu people and our culture are the main ingredients that make our tourism industry here very special, and as Vanuatu’s leading indigenous inbound operator, we are honored & proud of this opportunity given to us. We will put in 100% effort in maintaining a life-long and fruitful relationship with Specialist Holidays & House of Travel to attract more tourists to our beautiful shores.” The Vanuatu Tourism Office congratulates Mr Malas and the Evergreen Tours team for this milestone achievement!
