Vanuatu Ocean Swims Attract Record
Numbers
There are two Vanuatu Oceans
Swims held every year. The Vanuatu Ocean Swim Port Vila and the
Espiritu Santo Aore Swim, held on the 13th and 16th of June, saw
record numbers at both events, with many previous competitors
returning. The Espiritu Santo swim in particular saw a big increase
in swimmers, with family and friends enjoying the swim and the
variety of tours, adventures and great diving to be had on the 'Big
Island'.
Many swimmers this year extended
their stay and took the opportunity to visit
Tanna and the magical
Yasur volcano. On Swim Safari in Vanuatu: The day after the
Espiritu Santo Aore Swim eight of us set off on the first stage of
a seven day swimming, cultural, culinary, sense-searing adventure,
taking in Espiritu Santo, Aniwa and Tanna. (Source: Pacific

Vanuatu Kitesurfing Classic in
August
The Vanuatu
International Kitesurfing Classic will take place on Efate Island,
for the third year in a row. This year Vanuatu Kitesurfing Classic
will be held between the 11 - 16th of August, on Efate. In addition
to the previously seen freestyle and the long distance categories,
another two events will be introduced this year. Wave riding and
Air Time. The first 4 days of the competition will be at
Pango
Village where the wave
riding will be organized. And if the wind is off, Pango provides
some very good surf breaks.
During this time
there will also be two long distance races along the pristine
coastline between Pango and Mele Bay's Hideaway Island Resort. As
in previous years, the show than most of Port Vila will come to
watch is the freestyle and air time competition on the final two
days, the weekend of the 15-16 August. (Source: VTO Island

Pacific Youth Festival
The Pacific Youth
Festival is an event that is celebrated every four years by youth
within the Pacific region. The first Pacific Youth Festival was
held in Tahiti in 2006. This year it is in the beautiful
island of
Fiji. About 300 young
people from around the region have gathered this week in Suva,
Fiji, for the 2nd Pacific Youth Festival, which runs from 11–18
July. The festival was launched on Saturday morning when youth
delegates from 14 participating Pacific Island countries and
territories (PICTs), wearing colourful Pacific prints, marched
through the streets of Suva.
The theme of the 2nd
Pacific Youth Festival is “Actioning the Youth Agenda”. PICTs
participating in the festival are: American Samoa, Cook Islands,
Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands,
Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon
Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu,
Vanuatu, Wallis and Futuna. Student delegations from French
Polynesia and New Caledonia have also travelled to the festival.
