Evergreen
Tours new Magical Evening Tour
Over 50 delegates from various
hotels, resorts, tours and bank houses in Port Vila went on a famil
trip and the launching of Evergreen Tour’s new product, Ma’tepara
Magical Evening Tour. When asked what ‘ma’tepara’ meant, the term
translated to ‘eye where noise comes from’. For these 50 or so
people, the evening of Wednesday September 30th ended with style,
class, and pride of a Ni-Vanuatu’s capability and potential to be
successful in tourism businesses. Evergreen Tours is 100% locally
owned and managed by Philip Malas and Family, from Mele
Village.

The tour, which revolves around
the Mele culture, commenced at 5.30pm with hotel pick up, followed
by a quick stop over at The Nippers along Mele Bay, for cocktails
and a brief talk on the background history of Mele village by Julia
King, Sales and Marketing Manager of Evergreen Tours. Complimenting
Mrs King’s brief, were sweet serenades by an elderly group from
Mele village singing in local dialect, followed by a quick 5
minutes drive up to the Mele Cascades for a traditional custom
dressing show, live entertainment from some of the country’s top
artists like Stanely Mete and the Seven Revelations, and more
nibbles and drinks. (Source: VTO Island Nius)

The Sebel Vanuatu
Mirvac
Hotels & Resorts will cease management of The Sebel Vanuatu,
including all associated activities of sales & marketing, the
food & beverage operations and conferencing from 1st December
2009. Mirvac Hotels & Resorts took over management of the
property under their 4.5 star Sebel brand in April 2007 and quickly
reached a competitive operating level within the first 12 month
trading period. The Sebel Vanuatu has enjoyed a robust trade over
the past 12 months drawing upon the brand’s strong distribution
network, Mirvac’s CRS capabilities and the group’s national and
global network of sales and marketing professionals.
Under
The Sebel banner, the property has played host to many important
events and conferences, including the most successful Tok Tok to
date, government delegations, international VIPs, cabaret artists
and entertainers, and opened the Jupiter’s Casino. Mr Andrew
Turner, CEO of Mirvac Hotels & Resorts said, “We wish the owner
of the hotel every success under his own brand of The Grand which
will continue to operate along-side sister hotel Iririki. We
feel confident the ground work achieved by Mirvac in gaining
international prominence as well as positioning the hotel within
the local market, will place him in a strong position going
forward”. (Source: VTO Island Nius)
