Port Sandwich Art and Culture Festival

The new confirmed date for the Port Sandwich Art and Culture Festival is from 26-29 July. The festival will be a three days event of custom dance from the two local custom dance groups, a circumcision ceremony, sand drawing, snorkelling, hiking, custom crafts, and local foods. Every night will have live string band music, DJ, kava, and tusker. The price is 7000vt which includes all custom displays for three and a half days plus transportation to the nakamals. Tickets will be sold at the Vanuatu Cultural Centre in Vila, Wrecks to Rainforests in Santo, and at the Port Sandwich library/book exchange.

The festival will be held down near the wharf to give easy access to visiting yachts. There is limited accommodation (some bungalows and tents for rent), and a direct flight from Vila to Lamap on Monday the 26th and from Lamap to Vila on Thursday the 29th. Guests are welcome to stay on and celebrate the July 30th Independence celebration in Lamap on Friday, after the festival. For more information, call Stephen on mobile +678 561 8096.

Air Vanuatu code-share to Fiji with Air Pacific

Air Vanuatu Chief Executive Officer Joseph Laloyer has announced the addition of another code-share service to Nadi, a second weekly service, operated by Air Pacific from this week. Mr Laloyer said code-share partners were an important part of Air Vanuatu’s business, allowing the national carrier to reach destinations we may not otherwise have access to.

“We have code-share agreements with Qantas, Air Pacific and Air New Zealand, meaning our network is far reaching,” he said. “We now have code-share services to Nadi twice a week, on Tuesday and Sunday. With all inclusive fares starting from 23,300 vatu one way, the extra service will be welcomed in Vanuatu, particularly by those wanting to connect to or from the USA.” Media inquiries: Tiffany Carroll, phone +678 7747153.
